E.VA prepares young people for green innovation through sustainable agriculture
As part of the Erasmus+ GreenHack Youth project, E.VA Educazione Creativa organised a face-to-face workshop in Italy dedicated to Sustainable Agriculture and Horticulture.
The workshop, held on 30 March 2026, brought together 15 young people aged 18–30 and formed part of Activity 2 – Pre-Hackathon Preparation. Its aim was to strengthen participants’ basic knowledge of environmental sustainability while preparing them to turn real-life environmental challenges into ideas for the upcoming GreenHack Youth Hackathon.
Participants explored how agriculture is connected to climate change and their everyday lives. Topics included sustainable versus conventional agriculture, soil as a living system, water as a limited resource, the carbon footprint of food, and practical approaches to more sustainable food production.
The workshop combined short educational inputs with guided discussion, practical examples, mentoring and reflection. Digital tools were also incorporated into the face-to-face programme, including Miro for self-assessment and Mentimeter for participant feedback.
The results were encouraging: the workshop achieved an 81% satisfaction rate, while 90% of participants demonstrated increased knowledge and awareness based on pre- and post-training self-assessment.
Most importantly, the workshop was not only about learning what sustainability means. Participants were encouraged to look at their own communities, identify environmental challenges and begin asking a key question:
Could this problem become an idea for a green solution?
This is where learning becomes action – and where the journey towards the GreenHack Youth Hackathon begins.
GreenHack Youth is co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
